Communication, Leadership and Tech.

Journal Entry Six
  1. Confidentiality code was violated with this mother by some personal information on the child's record that she did not want to be revealed. The confidentiality code was broken when she heard a groop of teachers talking about what happend in class and saying things like their must be problems at home.
  2. The confidentially code was violated with child when he was topic of conversation at a resturant with co-workers.
  3. Discusion between two Directors is fine if the HIPPA is applied during this discussion if the conversation was to help in a way that cared for the child that may help in his transition with the parent consent.
  4. The parent should be included in any meeting to help for transitioning for the child to be as smooth as possible for everyone in the childcare center as well as family support.
  5. Having on going conversations with Eric's classmates would be appropiate as they may require a little different transitioning to something new to them as well. This will be something everyone will experience together to learn as they grow would be key.
  6. Methods that help Eric's transition to his new school letting him bring some familiar things to feel more comfortable. Establish a friendship with Eric and let him know that you will be his friend and will soon have many more friends at his new school. Implement some lesson plans about how you make others feel when you are not nice to others.
  7. The teacher conversation at the resturant was just how something like saying there must be problems at home escalate and are just unfounded and come from making small talk about something you may know nothing about. This was very unprofessional and you just never know who may be listening.
  8. This same conversation in the staff lounge should never take place in the center. The teacher should never be the topic of discussion as gosip.
  9. As a Director you can talk with the family and assure that they address the privacy issue that was violated with staff apologize with the assurance it will never happen again. The staff will be handled according to the policies and procedures they have agreed to under the terms of employment at this facility. Assure the family you are very sorry and their son will recieve the quality care that is expected of the center.
  10. The mother should feel a level of caution and may not feel this is the place for her child. I would feel the same as a parent in this citation.
  11. Transition is very hard on any child so to leave Eric and not move him would just be too hard for children this is best for the child.
